Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are intended to cover basic expenses at a graduate student level necessary to pursue a year of full-time language study in Asia.
Blakemore Freeman Fellowships fund a year of advanced study of an Asian language in Asia for American citizens and permanent residents of the United States who have a college degree and who plan to use an Asian language in their careers.
Japanese, Chinese, and Korean are some of the many East amd Southeast Asian languages a fellow can chose to study for.
Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are made for one year of full-time language study. This may include study in the summer preceding or following an academic year program. The Foundation encourages applicants who are applying for an academic year program to include a summer term.
